The Terres de Nacre destination, in Normandy
Courseulles-sur-Mer, Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, Luc-sur-Mer, Douvres-la-Delivrande… discover 12 towns and seaside resorts between land and sea.
Bordered by long sandy beaches and punctuated by small authentic villages, the Terres de Nacre destination offers visitors all the beauty of Normandy.
With its 12km of coastline, on the Cote de Nacre, Terres de Nacre is dotted with five seaside resorts : Courseulles-sur-Mer, Bernières-sur-Mer, Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, Langrune-sur-Mer and Luc-sur-Mer ; three of which are classified as “Tourist resorts”, and one of which has a fishing port and a fish market.
A real open-air museum, the history of the D-Day landings of 6 June 1944 can be discovered with emotion on all the landing beaches of the Canadian Juno (from Graye-sur-Mer to Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer) and British Sword (from Luc-sur-Mer to Ouistreham Riva Bella) sectors. The remains of the Atlantic Wall are still visible. The outdoor exhibition Dans leurs Pas (In Their Footsteps) presents the testimonies of those (civilians and soldiers) who lived through 6 June 1944.
A few kilometres from the coast, the small typical villages are nestled in the Seulles valley and in the Capricieuse valley. Walking paths cross these villages of character, such as Reviers, Anisy or Douvres-la-Délivrande, surrounded by green countryside. They can be discovered on foot, by bike or on horseback.
